Railway accident at the SiTo freight yard in Orbassano (Turin).
From a first reconstruction there would have been a head-on collision between two freight convoys: one moving would have hit another, stopped on the tracks.
Three people were injured in the accident and were rescued by 118 health workers, but none would be serious.
Turin firefighters on site.
The accident - as reported by a spokesman for the State Railways - would be attributable to human error and involved workers of railway companies outside the group.
It did not cause blocks to the airport's operations, which continued without interruption.
In the same airport in mid-December there was a fatal accident at work.
A 61-year-old driver from Spinetta Marengo (Alessandria) was crushed by another train during a maneuver to engage a locomotive.
He would retire 15 days later.
