Damascus-SANA
Deir Ali Electricity Station in Damascus countryside has fully returned to work after it went out of service this morning due to a technical fault.
The Director General of the General Organization for Transmission and Electricity Distribution, Eng. Fawaz Al-Zaher, explained in a statement to SANA’s delegate that a technical failure occurred this morning on one of the current transformers at Deir Ali station, 400-230 kilovolts, which led to its complete out of service, and consequently, a partial blackout occurred in the southern region of Damascus and Daraa. As-Suwayda and Quneitra, indicating that the technical workshops go directly to the place of the holidays.
It appears that in order to maintain the stability of the electrical system, the loads were reduced in Damascus and the rest of the provinces, and the fault site was isolated to begin repairing it, and the station took off with three groups out of five to service.
He added that after repairing the faults, all groups returned to service, as the electricity will be gradually restored to the governorates of the southern region, in addition to the return of stability to the electricity supply in the rest of the governorates.
