A few days before the newly elected President Xiomara Castro took office, there were violent clashes in parliament in Honduras.
Contrary to what had previously been agreed, Jorge Cálix had previously been elected interim chairman of the congress.
Renegade parliamentarians from Castro's left-wing Libre party had nominated him from their own ranks.
Other Libre MPs saw this as a violation of the pact with the coalition partner.
When he was sworn in, they called him a "traitor" and attacked him.
With punches and shoves, Calix fled.
Castro won the election on November 28, making him the first woman to hold the highest office in the Latin American country.
She is to be officially inaugurated next week, as will the speaker of the parliament.
