Another change of staff in the Schongau city council: Janaina Subiabre Haseitl from the Greens resigned her mandate because she is moving from Schongau to Freiburg.

Markus Keller has replaced her on the city council.

Schongau

– In the first meeting of the Schongau City Council this year, Mayor Falk Sluyterman regretted the step taken by Janaina Subiabre Haseitl, who thanked her City Council colleagues with very warm words for the good time.

She was well received in the Greens parliamentary group.

Her thanks also went to Daniela Puzzovio (ALS).

Together they were able to tackle many projects to revitalize the city of Schongau.

"I was able to take a lot of experience with me," said Subiabre Haseitl, who listed the "Avenue Beautification" project or the "Open Stage" in Schongau, which should continue after the winter break (we reported in advance).

"I was grateful for the chance."

She kept her word and did something for the young people of Schongau

Bettina Buresch also thanked the outgoing city councillor: "I was very impressed by how you got involved," said the Greens parliamentary group leader.

"You kept your word to do something for the young people." It is also not easy to overcome the inhibition threshold and speak publicly.

However, Janaina Subiabre Haseitl settled in quickly.

Even if she regrets the departure of the "youngest city councilor of all time": "When you're young, the paths go in different directions, we shouldn't stand in the way," said Buresch.

Review: In March 2020, Janaina Subiabre Haseitl, then 23 years old, was elected to the city council committee for the Greens together with her sister Teresa (25 years old).

Teresa left in September last year – for personal reasons.

At that time Esra Böse had moved up.

This time the list successor in the ranks of the Schongau Greens would have been Mario Albrecht.

But he no longer lives in Schongau.

Therefore, Markus Keller takes over the place of the younger sister.

A couple on the city council

"It's the first time that a couple has sat on the city council," said the mayor of Schongau after Keller's swearing-in ceremony.

Local politics in Schongau is anything but strange to the long-term partner of Green City Councilor Bettina Buresch – the couple has three grown-up sons together – he has been involved with the Alternative List (ALS) and the Greens in Schongau for 15 years .

"I probably won't need a long training period, I've been on the subject for a long time," smiles the 61-year-old in an interview with the Schongauer Nachrichten.

The public issues are always discussed in the parliamentary group meetings - "now I can say for myself what else the others do".

Active in many ways

In 1999, the Buresch/Keller couple moved from Munich to Schongau – because of the children.

Keller became more and more involved in Schongau and in politics, was temporarily the cashier at the ALS and is now an assessor for the Greens, has headed the local group of the Bund Naturschutz (BN) for eight years and has been treasurer in the BN district group for four years .

Born in Schweinfurt, he primarily wants to take care of the development of Schongau: "In which direction are we going, how do we want to live, what should local public transport look like?" These are questions that belong to the big overall topic of how the city can get fit could for the future.

Reach young people outside of the clubs

"I hope that Schongau will not become a dormitory town from which people only commute, as is the case with some places around Munich, but will remain as a separate city, as a great place to live."

Keller also regretted the departure of the second young city councillor, "I can't replace that".

The new voters have completely different interests, and there are sometimes conflicts with older adults.

Janaina Subiabre Haseitl always tried very hard to counteract, to mediate.

“You have to talk about it, but not dramatize it either.

The voices of those who complain are increasing, those who are affected are becoming fewer," he fears.

Live in an affable style and achieve more

Especially young people outside of the club life are difficult to reach, that doesn't even work through the schools, as the attempt to elect a youth advisory board in Lechstadt recently showed.

What is just as important to Keller: “To work against the trend that politics is being discredited by the Corona policy.” In contrast, the style of local politics in Schongau has become more affable.

“People perceive that it is becoming more constructive.

There are always complainers, but it is important that you live an affable style, then you can achieve a lot on site.”

The new city councilor Markus Keller also takes over all the offices of his predecessor.

He is a permanent member of the Foundation Committee and the Audit Committee as well as first deputy in the Finance Committee, in the Board of Trustees for the Youth Center and as a Senior Citizens Advisor.
