The new Greens member of the Bundestag, Karl Bär, and his team have moved into their constituency office in Holzkirchen.

However, there are still no office hours there.

Holzkirchen

– The meeting table is still missing. Discussions with employees or guests take place in a circle of chairs. On the other hand, that's not a problem: Corona forces people to keep their distance anyway, and given the pandemic situation, there are no personal consultation hours for the time being. So it's a kind of soft opening that the constituency office of the new Greens member of the Bundestag, Karl Bär, is currently experiencing in Holzkirchen.

The location couldn't be more central.

In the Marienpassage, right by the Herdergarten, the 36-year-old has taken up residence in a former hairdressing salon.

Large window front, lots of daylight.

His employees' desks now stand where lace used to be cut and perms laid.

"There's another big sunflower on the wall," reveals the long-time local politician, who made it into the Bundestag for the first time in September via the Greens state list.

Three employees take care of matters on site

Three young men take care of local issues. Maximilian Haberzettl looks after the district of Miesbach, Marius Schlosser the neighboring district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. Johannes Danzer is responsible for Bär's online appearances. In the future, the constituency office will be staffed during fixed office hours, and Bär wants to hold public consultations there every few weeks. However, most of the work still takes place in the home office. “Everything is just in the making,” says Bär.

The 36-year-old has now settled in well in Berlin.

He knows the capital and was already involved in politics there during his studies.

That made it a little easier to get started – even though he's still waiting to move into his office there.

The recent growth in the Bundestag has not exactly made the situation easier for the new members.

After all, it pays off for political work to be a member of the Bundestag and the governing party.

"I now get an answer from the responsible ministry within a week to questions that I never got a response to during my time at the environmental institute," reports Holzkirchner.

Karl Baer now has a car

And something else is new: Karl Bär now has a car – his first ever.

The small electric car enables him to get from A to B more quickly in the constituency.

"Geretsried, for example, is difficult for me to reach by public transport," admits the Green politician, who got his driver's license at the age of 18, but has since traveled longer distances almost exclusively by bike and train.

In addition, the Holzkirchner also looks after the city and district of Rosenheim for the Greens, so in the future he will also have to complete appointments in this direction on a regular basis.

Practical for him: The next charging station is at the Holzkirchner town hall, and that's right across the street.
