The Hallbergmooser had to do without the New Year's reception again this year.

However, the long-delayed presentation of the Silver Citizen's Medal has now taken place.

Hallbergmoos -

At a ceremony, Martina Wilkowski, Ludwig Wiesheu, Karl Heinz Bergmeier and Konrad Friedrich received the award decided by the municipal council in 2020. “We have been depriving people of the honor they deserve for two years now. We didn't want to wait any longer," said Mayor Josef Niedermair, explaining the decision to "go through with the award". Of course with a significantly reduced number of guests and in compliance with the infection protection rules. The ceremony in the Neuwirt was as dignified as Niedermair had wished. For the first time since taking office in April 2021, he had put on the chain of office to present the award - "to Martina, Luggi, Heinz and Konni. We can save the surnames. We have all known the people for many years.”

Wilkowski accepted the honor on behalf of all those who have supported her over the years

Martina Wilkowski

has been a volunteer for over 25 years.

She has earned a reputation as the social voice: since 2003 she has been the chairwoman of the neighborhood help, was the driving force behind the opening of the food bank and in the refugee aid: "That deserves absolute respect," the mayor thanked the 60-year-old for her "absolute unselfishness", determination and their constant existence for others.

According to Niedermair, he personally appreciates them as pleasant, sociable people.

Ludwig Wiesheu

is also

one of those people who enjoy the highest reputation in the community: He was an active member of the Hallbergmoos fire brigade for 42 years, earned all the performance badges, was a trainer, deputy commander and from 1986 to 1998 first commander - and now honorary commander.

The 83-year-old was also a parish councilor, cemetery caretaker and, since 1983, a member of the church choir.

In 1999 he founded the "Feierleit", which enriches every senior Christmas party and event with singing: "I'm a real fan", Josef Niedermair confessed, who appreciates Wiesheu not only as a musician, but also for his competence and level-headed manner.

A gentleman of the old school

A gentleman of the old school, always elegantly dressed, a calming influence, mediator and always striving for non-partisan cooperation: This is how the mayor characterized

Konrad Friedrich

: From 2008 to 2020, the 74-year-old held a seat on the municipal council, was a consultant for senior citizens and people with disabilities, chaired the senior citizens’ advisory board for twelve years and was also a strong voice for older citizens at district level.

In 1997 he became "vice" of the SPD local association, from 2003 to 2015 he was chairman.

The barrier-free expansion of the train station, the asphalting of the cemeteries, the bus line to Erding, the establishment of a pediatrician, bathing ponds and multi-generational living were among his most important concerns: "We wouldn't have gotten this far if you hadn't helped push," Niedermair thanked him.

"Heinz, you'd better stay seated.

It may take longer”: With these words, the mayor called on the “birthday child” to be honored:

Karl Heinz Bergmeier

, who celebrated his 75th birthday that day. The list of his honorary activities is long: the co-founder of the "new" SPD and its long-standing chairman was a municipal councilor for 36 years (1984 to 2020), a football referee for over 50 years, advocate of unity in the area reform, co-founder of the folk festival - and more 30 years club officer: "You have given positive support to all clubs - in the municipal council and privately," says Niedermair: "I don't want to know how many barrels, pigs and bills you have donated." Of course, as a politician, he is also a "person with corners and edges” who identified with projects, pursued them with a certain stubbornness and achieved outstanding things over “an insanely long time”. “These are numbers of superlatives. I take my hat off to you,” concluded the mayor.

Good to know

After honorary citizenship, the Silver Citizen's Medal is the highest award given by the municipality.

They receive personalities who have increased the well-being and reputation of the community through special achievements in the fields of art, science, business, social affairs, clubs or public life.

With the four newly awarded, there are currently 21 dignitaries.
