Sources involved in the negotiations told NBC that Moscow had offered Tehran an interim agreement, in exchange for some relief in sanctions • Under the agreement Iran would stop uranium enrichment to 60% and dispose of its current stock by exporting to Russia • Iran reportedly rejected the proposal

NBC reported today (Saturday) that US officials involved in the negotiations between the powers and Iran, claim that Russia has proposed to establish a temporary nuclear agreement.

Under the agreement, Iran will stop uranium enrichment up to 60% and get rid of its current inventory by exporting it to Russia.

In return, Iran will have access to oil revenues frozen in foreign bank accounts and valued at billions of dollars.

According to the report, Tehran opposes an interim agreement and even refuses to discuss the details of Moscow's proposal.

The report was made by two U.S. officials and four other people familiar with the discussions, who said the U.S. is aware of the proposal, which comes as the Biden administration fears that the time to return to the 2015 nuclear deal is running out. Temporary will not be seriously discussed.

The hourglass is running out.

He said, "Although we can not comment on the possible dialogue between Russia and Iran, at this stage there is no serious discussion on any temporary agreement. In any case, we will not negotiate through the media and will not specifically reach details that have allegedly come up in negotiations.

"Our schedule is based on a technical assessment of Iran's progress in its nuclear program, not on a temporary assessment."

As you may recall, on Thursday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned that if progress is not made within a few weeks in the nuclear talks with Iran in Vienna, the United States will not be able to return to the agreement.

"We are at a crucial moment with Iran, time is running out, we have discussed with our allies what will be done if Iran refuses to renew the agreement," Blinken stated in Berlin at a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annelna Barbock, with whom he is scheduled for a working meeting.

Blinken added: "We are in the midst of the eighth round of talks with Iran and we have not reached the point where we should have reached. The longer the negotiations continue, the more Iran will continue to develop its nuclear program.

There is a real urgency.

Within weeks we will decide if we can return to the agreement.

In my opinion, a return to the original agreement is still possible, but if we do not move forward, we will turn to another route. "
