“My cat”, “my chip”… When animals inspire the language of love

These expressions of affection are prized by people who love each other. Some are adorable, others surprisingly unsightly. Why are they used?


Thomas and Louise are comfortably seated on a sofa. Suddenly, Thomas turns to Louise and asks her:

"Will you pass me the remote control, please, sweetie?"
