The country has been affected since the hours of last night by an extension of the polar air depression attached to the southwestern currents, which began gradually this morning in most areas, to intensify during the evening, and its peak will be on the coming Wednesday and Thursday, according to the meteorologist Radwan Issa.
Issa indicated in a statement to SANA’s delegate that the rainfall this evening will be rainy mixed with snow in Damascus and snow on mountainous heights up to 1000 meters, such as the areas of Sergaya, Madaya and the Qalamoun Mountains, so that the depression will deepen during the night hours and the precipitation will become snowy at a level of 900 meters.
Issa pointed out that the weather will be cloudy and rainy tomorrow morning at intervals, and the activity of the depression will continue tomorrow, so that snow will fall on the mountainous heights of more than 900 meters, and precipitation mixed with snow will be on the northern, central and island regions, while temperatures will be lower than their rates by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, and the air during The night hours are very cold and warns of frost and ice formation in most areas, and it continues until the hours of tomorrow evening, when the effectiveness will weaken.
Issa explained that the country is on a date next Tuesday evening and night, with a more effective depression, so that the weather on Wednesday morning will be accompanied by heavy rain and snowfall at a height of 800 meters, that is, in Damascus and some internal areas.
This depression continues until the end of this week, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures, reaching in Damascus to minus 6 / 3 during the night and day of Wednesday. The speed of the western winds is active, exceeding 70 km / h in the southern regions and Damascus, and exceeding 85 km / h in the coastal areas, while the depression begins to recede on Friday, and the cold weather continues at night, accompanied by frost and snow, until next Sunday.
