The Brazilian authorities announced today the postponement of the date of the Rio de Janeiro carnival for this year, against the background of the high frequency of the outbreak of the Corona virus in the country.
And the NBC television network quoted the local authorities as saying today: “The decision to postpone comes in light of the complex epidemiological conditions and the current need to protect people’s lives and mobilize capabilities to activate the vaccination campaign across the country.”
The statement added that parades at samba schools at the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, scheduled for the end of February, have been postponed to April 21.
And the virus infections reached 23 million and 960 thousand and 207, while the total deaths reached 622 thousand and 979 deaths.
