Residents of the Buchenweg approach the municipality with a claim - the municipal council rejects measures

Hebertshausen – The Buchenweg in Hebertshausen is a short, narrow cul-de-sac with just five houses. Nevertheless, there are apparently traffic problems in the alley, which is just 30 meters long and leads into Münchner Straße, which the municipal council has now dealt with. Because the residents of the houses at the end complain that parking is in the front area of the path, so they cannot drive out safely. The residents are therefore demanding a parking ban for the entire Buchenweg. But this already applies there.

Specifically, the road there is just 4.5 meters wide, and there are 25 centimeters of curb on both sides between the road and the fence, which parked vehicles occasionally drive onto. "It's not an easy situation," said Mayor Richard Reischl in the municipal council. In fact, parking is not permitted even without signs if the lane does not remain free to drive through over a width of 3.05 meters. This is exactly the case in the narrow Buchenweg. "There is a no-parking rule without any signs."

The conflict has also existed for a long time.

The Buchenweg was repeatedly inspected and measured by the police as part of the traffic inspection, and talks were held with the residents, according to the mayor.

The municipal traffic control also checks, but they are usually on the road during the day.

On the other hand, people park incorrectly in the evening.

However, Reischl does not expect any improvement from a sign.

“Someone can park even with a sign.” Alternatively, a white zigzag warning line on the road could be considered.

Reischl is against it, these markings are expensive to maintain and quickly faded.

Last but not least, anyone can report parking violations directly to the police.

"There's a standard form."

Reischl fears further applications with a parking ban, "because we have many similar cases".

Martin Gasteiger (FBB) sees it that way, too, who suggests that traffic surveillance can be monitored more closely on Buchenweg for a while "to send a signal".

On the other hand, Clemens von Trebra (CSU) advocates a zigzag warning line as a "visually conspicuous warning option".

With parked vehicles, the escape route is no longer free.

"For me, that's a clear argument," explained Marianne Klaffki (SPD).

However, the municipality would then have to "provide 27 streets with signs", the mayor replied, so often parking is obstructive.

Further measures were rejected with a narrow majority of eleven votes.
