The city has opened a funding program that would make implementation possible.

An unexpected option now opened up in the city council.

According to this, the district town could get into the electricity business and earn money from the operation of the charging stations.

The city of Miesbach's plan to set up four charging stations for e-cars at Habererplatz is now becoming concrete.

In March 2021, the city council decided that the topic would be resubmitted if the “subsidy situation” changed.

This has now happened.

A federal subsidy program offers the city up to 80 percent of the construction costs of the system – four charging points at two columns on Habererplatz are under discussion – reimbursed.

To meet the deadline, an application has already been submitted.

In the event of implementation, the grant notification would bring 32,000 euros, so that Miesbach would only have to pay 13,000 euros himself.

There is also the option of working with an energy supplier.

Alexander Usselmann, area manager at the network operator Bayernwerk, presented the current framework conditions to the city council on Thursday evening.

According to this, the city would have to pay a construction subsidy of around 10,000 euros, while the utility would take over the construction and operation of the charging stations.

A mains connection of 120 kilowatts would enable both a quick and a normal charging station.

The minimum service life would be six years.

The use of green electricity would be a prerequisite.

Interesting: You could park there for free during the maximum four-hour charging time.

Selling electricity is not the city's core business

Another possibility would be for the city to buy electricity itself – 100,000 kilowatt hours was mentioned – and sell it on at the pillars. The advantage: This would cushion the annual maintenance costs for Miesbach of around 1300 euros, if not convert them into a profit of 1000 to 2000 euros. According to Usselmann, the tariff can be freely selected.

While Paul Fertl (SPD) and Kick van Walbeek (Greens) would welcome such an offer, Erhard Pohl (CSU) emphasized again that operating the columns is not the city's task: "As a support yes, I don't see us as operators .

And what if you bought too much or too little?” It is interesting, however, to equip the columns in such a way that e-bikes can also be charged.

But according to Usselmann, cafés in the city center are better suited for this.

Pohl's suggestion to also consider the outdoor pool as a location was expanded by Markus Seemüller (FWG) to include Rathausstraße and the ice rink.

The first step towards the charging station in Miesbach

Manfred Burger (Greens), meanwhile, warned that a "charging station search traffic" would arise.

That's why Habererplatz is ideal, "because I can't get it any more central".

And Michael Lechner (FWG) added: We should get into the pots, because we are committed to climate change.”

The city council unanimously decided to decide separately on how to proceed.

But a first step has already been taken: Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) has already acquired several sponsors from the Miesbach car dealerships, who will jointly take over the construction cost subsidy of 10,000 euros.
