The Planning and Building Council has approved regulations for the promotion of renewable energy in Israel • The million dollar question: Will the costs ultimately be borne by the purchasing public?

The National Planning and Construction Council has approved regulations to promote renewable energy in Israel, according to which infrastructure content for charging stations for electric vehicles in new residential buildings will be exempted from the other plans for the construction of photovoltaic facilities on water reservoirs.

Infrastructure regulations for charging electric vehicles stipulate that in new residential buildings with 6 or more housing units, the preparation of infrastructure for charging stations for electric vehicles will be required - as part of the efforts to encourage the use of electric vehicles and reduce the use of polluting vehicles.

The significance is dramatic.

For each new construction, the contractor will be required to prepare the infrastructure required for the installation of charging stations, for all parking spaces in the building, except in buildings where parking is in automatic facilities.

Thus, any tenant will be able to install a charging station immediately upon purchase of an electric vehicle at an equal cost per capita, and without incurring heavy financial expenses.

The new regulations remove a real barrier that delays the entry of electric vehicles into the car market in Israel, make it easier for the public and are expected to address market trends in the near future.

They are expected to take effect six months from the date of their publication.

Deputy Director of the Planning Administration for Regulation on Licensing and Construction, Ruth Schwartz Hanoch:

Permission waiver regulations for photovoltaic facilities on reservoirs will allow for faster installation of photovoltaic systems in order to encourage land use.

"Installation regulations for charging infrastructure for electric charging stations Residential buildings remove a barrier with construction by the contractor so that a tenant can install the stand upon purchase of the electric vehicle."

Dorit Hochner, senior director of the physical planning department at the Ministry of Energy:
