Drunk driver gets out of van – it rolls away with three children

Getting out of the car without applying the handbrake: not a good idea.

However, a woman has now done so, her van rolled away - with three children on board.

Tijuana (Mexico) - There are viral videos where you're actually sure: It's fake.

It can't have happened like that.

Now another clip has appeared – but it actually seems real.

The whole thing is apparently set in Tijuana, Mexico.

The beginning of the video (to be found below), which can be found on the Reddit platform, among other places, is still relatively harmless.

You can see a rather run-down white van that crashes into an off-road vehicle behind it during a wild attempt to park.

So far everything is relatively unspectacular - but shortly afterwards crazy scenes take place, as reported by 24auto.de.

The woman behind the wheel of the Ford Freestar (possibly its sister model, the Mercury Monterey)

opens the door after her crash - and even as she gets out, the vehicle begins to move.

She seems unable to correct her mistake.

The van drives away.

She probably didn't put the handbrake on - it's not easy to see on the video, but the road seems extremely steep.

And so the woman runs next to the car quite helplessly.

The hammer: As the Mexican newspaper “Excélsior” reports, three children are sitting in the van that is rolling away.

While she sprints half-heartedly, she also pulls up her slipping pants.

Then it gets dramatic: At the end of the street, the van falls into a meter-deep abyss, which is apparently filled with water, as the video shows.

The good news: according to the media report, the three children in the Ford Freestar were unharmed in the incident.

The driver of the van, who appeared to be intoxicated, was taken into custody by police after struggling and insulting officers.
