(ANSA) - CITTA 'DELLA PIEVE (PERUGIA), 23 JAN - The morning walk with his dog, to then spend the rest of Sunday inside his country house in Città della Pieve. Thus the Umbrian day of Prime Minister Mario Draghi slipped away, on the eve of the first vote for the new President of the Republic.
Spent in the Pievesi countryside where the family has a country house.
Draghi's wife, Serenella, would have been seen shopping in a supermarket outside the Umbrian village in the late morning.
In the historic center of the town the debate has been very heated for days between Draghi who is still prime minister or head of state. In these parts, the former president of the ECB is much loved.
"The important thing - some citizens say to ANSA - is that he remains at the helm of Italy in one way or another. Without him we will not go very far".
At the moment, however, it is not known whether Draghi will remain in Umbria again tomorrow, thus following the first "remote" vote, or whether he will return to Rome.
