The adult education center (Vhs) Geretsried will distribute its new program booklet next week.

193 events are planned.

She is hoping for significantly more registrations this year.

Geretsried – The adult education center (Vhs) Geretsried is hoping for significantly more registrations this year.

“The 2G, 2Gplus and our hygiene rules give us a good feeling.

With the continued willingness of the participants and lecturers to observe all the rules and to work patiently with us, we will also master the spring and summer semester well," says head Beate Ruda when asked by our newspaper.

A highlight: reading by Michael Stacheder

The program booklet will be distributed next week.

Registrations have been possible since December via the homepage.

There are 193 events in the new semester.

"I would particularly like to highlight Michael Stacheder's reading on the 80th anniversary of Stefan Zweig's death: 'The World of Yesterday' – Memories of a European," says Ruda.

The appointment is on Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in the city library.

Werner Menner, longtime political editor of the Münchner Merkur, will give two lectures. He dedicates himself to "St. Petersburg – the 'Venice of the North'” (Thursday, March 24, 7 p.m., City Library) and “Canada East – from Niagara Falls to Nova Scotia” (Wednesday, April 6, 7 p.m., City Library). Ruda promises "no mere travelogues, but a lot of interesting facts about the life of the people, about the politics and culture of the country".

The Vhs engages between 70 and 90 lecturers per semester.

There is always fluctuation.

Eight lecturers left the Vhs from the past semester.

New additions are teachers of English, French and Spanish.

"We also offer Chinese and again Norwegian and Greek with beginner courses," says Ruda.

A "PC round table for everyone" is also planned, at which Manfred Hachen, consumer education trainer, will discuss various topics with the participants on the first Monday of every month.

Lots of “switch” courses up our sleeve

When it comes to planning, Vhs is “basically as flexible as possible” as it has been since the beginning of the pandemic, emphasizes Ruda.

“If the regulations change, we adapt to the situation.

Almost all language courses can now 'switch', as can a number of health courses.” This means that more than a third of the events take place face-to-face, but can also be held digitally.

The Vhs manager openly admits that Corona has left its mark.

In the new semester there are 35 fewer events than usual.

Last year, 440 events were planned.

"The spring semester was almost completely canceled, in the fall people were so unsettled and the 2G and 2Gplus rules came in that many courses could not take place or were only shortened," Ruda looks back.

Almost two-thirds losses

Ultimately, 209 courses would have taken place in 2021, compared to 370 in the pre-Corona year 2019. With 1283 participants, there were 1817 fewer than in 2019. According to income and expenditure statistics, the Vhs 2021 had losses of almost two thirds compared to 2019.
