Penzberg – The Penzberger Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) has done a lot again.

Despite the corona restrictions, there were actions and help.

The proceeds from the spring and autumn collections of the AWO as well as the numerous donations from business people and private individuals in Penzberg did the local association good: The funds made it possible "to support many people in Penzberg in a meaningful way in a difficult year for many", reports the local chairperson Ute Frohwein-Sendl.

Among other things, families in need and seniors who need help with everyday things in life were considered.

The collections raised a lot of money.

The spring campaign 2021 asked for donations.

The volunteers from the local association distributed donation letters to all households.

More than 5000 euros went into the AWO account.

The collection also brought in over 5,000 euros last autumn.

First advent calendar

Social institutions in Penzberg were also able to rely on the support of the local association again.

In December, for example, a donation of 700 euros went to the local youth center Don Bosco.

"This aid directly benefits the children and young people who cannot afford certain things that other people of the same age take for granted," explains Frohwein-Sendl.

The donation comes from the proceeds of the new Penzberg "Tut gut" advent calendar, which was offered for the first time in 2021 for a donation of 10 euros - and according to the chairman "was very well received".

The social association also took part in the "Christmas gnome campaign" for the Don Bosco youth center, the AWO senior citizens' center and for children in need.

gifts distributed

Of course, the local AWO senior center on Gartenstraße was also considered: all residents and the employees of the facility received small gifts from the local association.

The workers' welfare organization also supported the Penzberger Tafel, the Oberland children's aid center and some socially disadvantaged families with donations of money and goods.

Award for anniversaries

Only the own Advent celebration with anniversary ceremony was canceled again at the end of last year due to the corona pandemic.

But those celebrating their anniversaries (see box) did not have to do without their well-deserved award: the badge of honor with a certificate and a gift were brought home by board members.
