The well-known Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi has been sentenced to eight years in prison and 70 lashes, according to her husband.
The hearing before the Iranian court lasted only five minutes, her husband Taghi Rahmani, who lives in France, said on Twitter.
It was unclear what she was accused of.
Mohammadi is known in Iran for her work against the death penalty.
The former spokeswoman for the Iranian Center for Human Rights Defenders was arrested in May 2015 and sentenced to 16 years in prison for "founding an illegal organization".
She was released in October 2020 after her sentence was reduced.
In May she was again targeted by the authorities.
According to her lawyer, the journalist and human rights activist was sentenced to 30 months in prison and 80 lashes.
Lawyer Mahmud Behsadi-Rad confirmed reports by the Iranian media to the AFP news agency that Mohammadi had been convicted of "propaganda against the Iranian political system", "slander" and "rebellion against the prison administration".
Despite the conviction, Mohammadi was initially not imprisoned.
She was then arrested again in November 2021 during a memorial service for someone killed in the 2019 nationwide anti-government protests.
