The fire, which could be of electrical origin, broke out during the night, around 2:45 a.m., in a three-storey building in the center of La Ciotat, a coastal town located about thirty kilometers from Marseille.

The 28-year-old mother and 26-year-old father jumped with their two children, six years and 16 months, because "

the fire had entered their apartment

", the police source said.

," she said.

The children were also injured but their vital prognosis is not engaged.

The national police, who were patrolling the street when the fire broke out, tried unsuccessfully to put it out with fire extinguishers before being joined by municipal police officers and firefighters.
