Where is the new ICE plant to be built in Nuremberg?
Criticism of the planned locations is growing.
Now a round table should ensure more transparency.
Nuremberg - The search for a suitable location for the new ICE plant in Nuremberg* is becoming more and more of a stalemate.
A main problem is the lack of transparency on the part of Deutsche Bahn*.
For this reason, Bavaria's Bahn boss Klaus-Dieter Josel has made it his goal to strengthen cooperation with regional politicians in order to better include the opinion of the population in the search for a location.
Nuremberg: More transparency in terms of selection criteria
The focus is on the selection criteria for a suitable area.
In particular, the criticism of the citizens refers to the non-consideration of the free space in the district of Altenfurt/Fischbach.
According to
BR
, it was claimed in local politics circles that this location was shortlisted under pressure from Prime Minister Markus Söder* (CSU), although it would actually have been an acceptable option.
In order to put a stop to such rumours, Josel would now like to introduce a new round table with all those involved.
In this round, independent experts should then take another close look at the Altenfurt/Fischbach site.
Nuremberg: Three other options are available
The railway currently has three other areas available.
On the one hand, the former Muna ammunition plant in nearby Feucht would be available.
Other options would be an area directly south of the Muna and an open area near Allersberg.
However, these three locations are all in the Franconian Bannwald.
Nevertheless, the railway is having these options checked by the Central Franconian government for availability.
Deutsche Bahn is planning 400 million euros for the new ICE plant.
According to Josel, between 35 and 45 hectares of forest will have to be cleared and 450 new jobs will be created.
