Pedestrian dies after collision with car

Oppenheim – A terrible accident on Saturday evening (01/22/2022) cost the life of a pedestrian.
According to the police, the 81-year-old woman died of her injuries after a collision with a car in Oppenheim (Mainz-Bingen district).
According to the police, a 31-year-old man drove his car in Oppenheim on the border between Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse towards Wormser Straße around 7.10 p.m. when he drove past a car parked on the side of the road.

Suddenly, however, the woman from Oppenheim came out from behind the parked car, as the police reported.
Apparently she wanted to cross the street.
The driver braked immediately, but was unable to prevent the collision.
The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
After consultation with the public prosecutor's office in Mainz, an expert was entrusted with further investigations into the cause of the traffic accident.
In April 2021, a boy was hit by a bus in Mainz while crossing the street.
