In an interview with the JDD, the journalist and former columnist for Laurent Ruquier's show assures us that this candidacy is "the only bearer of hope".

The transfer window continues.

Less than 80 days before the presidential election, the rallies of public figures for one candidate or another are going well.

After several elected Communists, it is now the turn of journalist and environmental activist Aymeric Caron to join the camp of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Notably known for his defense of the anti-speciesist cause, he brings with him his small Ecological Revolution for the Living Party, founded in 2018.

It is in an interview with the

JDD

that Aymeric Caron takes the plunge.

Three months before the ballot, he specifies the convergences that led him to join La France insoumise.

He also draws up, in passing, a severe report on the state of the left.

A “soft ecology” within EELV

There is an “

emergency

”. According to the activist, it is now imperative to act in the face of global warming. The time is therefore over for “

political compromises

”, in which the party of Europe Ecology-The Greens “

got bogged down

”, “

especially with the PS

”. "

Jadot's line consists in not being too radical

", he criticizes, denouncing a "

soft ecology

" which "

does not correspond to the need of the moment: to produce less, to pollute less

". "

EELV also lacks audacity on animal rights

", he further specifies.

On the contrary, he calls on him to "

rethink everything

" to achieve "

an anti-liberal ecology

" and a "

break with the Fifth Republic

".

This is also why the candidacy of Jean-Luc Mélenchon seems to him to be the "

only bearer of hope

" if we want to "

really change the course of things

".

The Greens still lack radicalism

”, he insisted, convinced that the party led by Julien Bayou saw “

the situation that the PS knew a decade ago: not wanting to decide, it is prevented from moving forward

”.

Now associated with La France insoumise, Aymeric Caron specifies however that it is indeed a “

partnership

”, and that his party, Ecological revolution for the living, will make proposals sometimes different from those currently defended.

On the working week at 11 p.m. or even the abolition of hunting, “

we will discuss

”, he assured, recalling that his party will keep its “

independence

”.

The journalist also plans to stand in the next legislative elections, “

under the banner of the Popular Union

”.

The will is for a long-term alliance

,” he said.
