Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Russia expects new, possibly military provocations, from the United States and the Ukrainian authorities.
TASS news agency quoted Zakharova as saying on Telegram: We expect provocations from Washington and the Kiev regime, which may be provocations by publishing misleading information, and we also do not rule out military provocations, especially as they have precedents and previous experience of this kind.
In an interview with Rossiya 1 channel, Zakharova stated that the West is trying to prepare the media space for a number of major provocations, including military provocations against Russia, and they are preparing public opinion for this, and that they have injected a large number of fabrications and media misinformation through social media and through the traditional press.
Zakharova believed that the United States, Britain and Ukraine were facing a severe internal political crisis, so they promoted an alleged Russian danger in order to divert attention from their acute internal problems.
To that, Zakharova referred to allegations made by the American Bloomberg website, quoting what she described as an official in Beijing claiming that Chinese President Xi Jinping called on his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, not to invade Ukraine during the Olympics, which his country is hosting from the twenty-fourth of next month.
Zakharova said that the matter was no longer just the release of false information, but actually turned into a special operation to spread disinformation by Washington's private agencies using Bloomberg.
Of course, this official in Beijing must be an American, Zakharova added.
Zakharova stated that Georgia's attack on South Ossetia with the support of the United States took place during preparations for the Summer Olympics in Beijing in August 2008.
In turn, the Chinese Embassy in Russia denied in a statement today Bloomberg's allegations, describing them as incorrect and provocative, adding that Beijing's position on the Ukrainian issue is consistent and clear, and it calls for resolving differences through dialogue and consultations within the framework of the Minsk agreements.
