"A person should take care of his parents and his siblings. It is not possible for you to have millions - and your mother has nothing to eat," the Rebbe Rabbi Josiah Pinto, leader of Shuva Yisrael, answered the question, what are the priorities of giving charity and what is meant by "The poor of your city are past."
Rabbi Pinto, who was asked in the question and answer lesson, added that "a person should help his family and his community.
As it is written in the Sages that a person who lives in the city for more than 30 days, is obligated to give "Kamcha Depsha" to the poor.
"Help your environment and family first, before you seek to help people who are at the end of the world," the Rebbe said. Watch his full remarks.
