In this press release, the junta, dubbed the Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration (MPSR), says it has acted in the face of

and announces, in addition to the arrest of the president, the dissolution of the government and that of the assembly.

Several ministers as well as the head of Parliament, Alassane Bala Sakandé, often seen as the Dauphin, were also arrested and are being held

"in a safe place".

At the head of the MPSR is Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.

This officer, partly trained in France, had commanded the elite Cobra force before being appointed head of the military region of Ouagadougou.
