The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Defense announced this morning (Monday) that the air defense system intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi militia at Abu Dhabi.

A statement from the UAE News Agency said that the Ministry of Defense confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.

This is while the remains of the ballistic missiles fell in various areas in Abu Dhabi.

It should be noted that the interception comes after threats by the Houthi militia to hit Abu Dhabi again, following last week’s attack.

The Houthis stressed that the UAE is not a safe country and advised foreign companies to "leave".

A week ago, the Houthis attacked UAVs and ballistic missiles with an oil rig and a construction site near the airport. Three people, with Indian and Pakistani citizenship, were killed in the attack.

The United Arab Emirates reported flashes of explosions seen in the skies of Abu Dhabi around 04:30 at night (local time).

The Ministry of Defense said it was ready to deal with any threat and take the necessary measures to protect the country.

The interception comes after a series of attacks by the Saudi coalition in Yemen against the Houthis, in which dozens of people were killed.
