“His death caught me completely unprepared.

I lived with my dad and did everything with him.

He was the most important person to me and his opinion was always very important to me.”

She likes to remember the day of the casting in Wernigerode.

Her dad really wanted to accompany her - it was their last good experience together.

"Dad cheered me up on the way to the jury and called: 'Melissa, sing!'

This casting day was our best experience together - unfortunately also our last.

Dad was so proud of me that day.”

Ingolstadt/Cologne – Melissa Mantzoukis hoped that her big dream of becoming a singer would come true with DSDS. The then 17-year-old appeared at the castings with her father. "I'm a daddy's child. If he hadn't motivated me, I wouldn't have made it here," she explains. The trainee bank clerk lives in Ingolstadt. Her father is from Greece, her mother from Georgia, she explains. In the castings, she actually gets the recall note. Her performance of Rihanna's "Diamonds" did not initially convince the jury, Toby Gad asked for another song. Melissa then made it to the next round with "Love You Like A Love Song" by Selena Gomez. Good news for you and your dad.
