– handicraft? office job? Or study? For young people aged 15 and 16, the question of their professional future arises. For the players of the EC Bad Tölz U17 team, now is the time to set the course. This is where a new collaboration begins. Because the U17 is now an advertising medium for the training compass, which is published every year. It introduces companies that offer apprenticeships. The young people also receive information about the requirements that are necessary to take up a certain profession.
The idea for the cooperation between ice hockey and training compass came from Monika Uhl, who is in charge of the compass.
"But it wouldn't have been possible without the cooperation of many," she emphasizes.
“The boys first come into contact with the topic of finding a career when they are 15 and 16 years old.” Internships, summer jobs or other priorities become important.
"The training compass provides initial orientation for this." It is intended to make young people aware of their strengths and interests, just as is necessary within an ice hockey team.
Solidarity on the ice and at work
In the videos that have now been created, the five players who were involved in the recordings list each other's strengths and explain how they can use the training compass for themselves.
The shooting took place in the last pre-season, says Uhl.
"We shot two and a half days and had a 46-page script," she explains of the great effort behind the production.
"The boys did well."
When the clips were presented to the entire team, District Administrator Josef Niedermaier also addressed the adolescents in a video message.
The district is co-editor of the compass.
"I was in a similar situation to you," said the district administrator.
When he was young, cross-country skiing and biathlon were the most important things for him, and he was about to make the leap to becoming a professional.
“You are now in the phase where you have to ask yourself: Can I do more in sport?” Reality shows that only a few really make the leap to the top in sport.
It is therefore all the more important to secure yourself with an education.
And even those who do not later make a career in professional sports benefit enormously from their time in competitive sports.
He experiences that himself every day.
