He pointed out that the additional expenditure used by schools in epidemic prevention work increased by 110,000 yuan and 105,000 yuan respectively in the previous year and last year.
Lam Tsui-ling, chairman of the Kindergarten Principals Association in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing districts, pointed out that although the Education Bureau had provided a subsidy of $15,000 to kindergartens, the funds had been exhausted due to repeated epidemics.
She pointed out that the school needs to buy a lot of cleaning supplies to fight the epidemic, and hopes that the authorities will pay attention to the needs of the school and issue subsidies again to help the school tide over the difficulties.
Legislative Councilor Kwok Ling-li specifically mentioned the situation of special schools, pointing out that some old school buildings have imperfect ventilation systems, and some employees may need to perform high-risk work such as sputum suction, which requires funds for more thorough cleaning.
She said that the fifth wave of the epidemic is severe, and schools need funds for anti-epidemic work. However, after the government issued a subsidy two years ago, there is no other support. Many schools have turned to the outside world for help.
She urged the government to face up to the needs of the industry, take responsibility, and once again provide special subsidies for epidemic prevention to help schools prevent the spread of the virus.
