Vaccination opponents keep lamenting that the corona vaccines lead to serious consequential damage.

The actual number of people affected in Bavaria is now known.

Bayreuth

– Vaccination against the corona virus has been carried out in Germany for more than a year.

Although opponents of vaccination repeatedly cite the health damage that such immunization is said to pose as a risk, only four cases of so-called vaccination damage have been recognized in Bavaria so far.

Three other applications were rejected, two were withdrawn, said the responsible Bavaria Family and Social Center (ZBFS) in Bayreuth.

A total of 263 applications are still pending.

For comparison: Since the beginning of the pandemic *, according to the RKI, around 25 million doses of the different corona vaccines have already been administered in Bavaria.

Permanent damage from corona vaccination?

For data protection reasons, the authority does not disclose the vaccination damage suffered by the four people affected.

According to the Infection Protection Act, vaccination damage is "the health and economic consequence of damage to health caused by the vaccination that goes beyond the usual extent of a vaccination reaction" (§2).

ZBFS spokesman Benjamin Vrban also explained that a mere coincidental temporal connection between vaccination and illness is not sufficient to be recognized as vaccination damage.

"Absolute exception": Permanent vaccination damage caused by corona vaccines is extremely rare

The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI), which is responsible for the safety of vaccines, points out that adverse reactions are reported in connection with a vaccination, but not necessarily with a causal connection. Only studies can prove whether a reaction is actually a consequence of the vaccination. "According to the current state of knowledge, serious side effects are very rare and do not change the positive benefit-risk ratio of the vaccines." Very rare vaccination complications over a long period of time are "the absolute exception", according to the institute.

According to the German Society for Immunology, typical symptoms after a vaccination are pain at the injection site, exhaustion and headache, muscle pain, chills and fever.

"These reactions are an expression of the immune system's desired confrontation with the vaccine and usually subside completely after a few days," says the RKI.

ZBFS spokesman Vrban advises that if symptoms last longer than a few days, are exceptionally severe or if there are complications such as neurological disorders or myocarditis, you should see a doctor.

According to the expert, a really permanent vaccination damage can be detected at the earliest around six months after the vaccination and can only be verified with a specialist medical assessment.

Permanent consequential damage after corona vaccination: those affected receive monthly additional benefits from the state

In the case of a vaccination that is officially recommended by a country, the social right to compensation applies in the event of vaccination damage according to the law - those injured can hope for money from the state.

The Federal Supply Act is decisive.

Depending on the severity, vaccination victims are entitled to a basic pension - from 156 to 811 euros per month, as Vrban explains.

Depending on the severity of the vaccination damage and the economic circumstances of those affected, additional payments are also possible.

In extreme cases, the sum of the monthly benefits can therefore be up to 15,000 euros, according to Vrban.

How much Bavaria has to pay for the four people affected is currently being calculated, but not published because of the small number of victims.
