The federal and state governments want to maintain the strict corona rules for the time being because of Omikron.

But how does Kretschmann intend to implement this?

The judiciary has recently set narrow guardrails for him.

Stuttgart – In view of the rapid spread of the omicron variant of the corona virus, the federal and state governments initially want to stick to the extensive restrictions.

This became apparent immediately before the switching conference between the Prime Ministers and Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD).

This means that possible loosening in Baden-Württemberg is again on the brink.

The green-black state government wants to revise its regulation shortly after the consultations of the federal and state governments.

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) faces a difficult decision because the judiciary gave his government clear guidelines at the end of last week.

Most recently, the Green politician had assured that he would remain on the "path of caution".

After the judgment of the administrative court, which declared the freezing of alert level II with severe restrictions for the unvaccinated to be partially illegal, the country must put its level system back into force.

Because the burden on hospitals has decreased - relatively speaking - in the past few weeks, the government should actually relax the measures a little.

The FDP asked green-black to stick to their own rules.

Kretschmann wants to inform the state parliament this Wednesday about the further course in the fight against the corona virus.

The new regulation is expected to come into force in the middle of the week.

For example, a return to normal alert levels would mean that restaurants would only be 2G and no longer 2G plus.

In retail, 3G would be possible again instead of 2G.

But Kretschmann has already explained that the government reserves the right to adjust and possibly tighten the rules previously planned for the alarm level.

According to experts, the course of the disease at Omikron is somewhat milder than at Delta, which has relieved the intensive care units.

But the number of Covid patients in the clinics has recently increased again.

The number of infections is also skyrocketing in the southwest. On Sunday (as of 4 p.m.), 854.4 infections per 100,000 inhabitants were registered nationwide within seven days. The nationwide hospitalization incidence climbed to 4.6. It indicates how many corona infected people are taken to hospitals within a week and per 100,000 inhabitants. With a value of 6.0, Baden-Württemberg would have to declare alert level II again.

FDP parliamentary group leader Hans-Ulrich Rülke doubted that Kretschmann would be able to maintain the strict corona rules and put the tier system back into force at the same time. "Basically, it doesn't work at all. Either you stick to your own rules, then you have to relax. Or you go a special way and tighten up," said Rülke of the dpa. The Liberal is also critical of an adjustment to the normal alert level. "It's arbitrary: If the set of rules no longer suits me, then I simply move it."

The FDP insists that 2G be abolished in retail in the south-west, as per a court ruling in Bavaria.

In addition, Rülke called for the abolition of the "special route during curfew" in the catering trade.

In Alert Level II, restaurants had to close between 10:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Basically, Rülke said: "It would be incomprehensible if there were tougher measures in Baden-Württemberg than in Bavaria."

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) recently campaigned for spectators to be allowed back into professional sports soon.

First of all, he wants to see whether a unified line can be achieved, but if necessary, Bavaria also wants to act on its own.
