This gripping French documentary by Barbara Necek tells the incredible story of the organized resistance to the Mauthausen concentration camp. The film opens with images of former Spanish deportee Francisco Boix, who testified in 1946 at the Nuremberg trials. This Republican fighter during the Spanish Civil War was interned in Mauthausen in January 1941. He remained there until the camp was liberated by the Americans in 1945. With his training as a photographer, he was assigned to the identification service. There he develops and files official photographs taken by the SS. In particular a series of terrible pictures of prisoners murdered by their jailers. Other photographs show dignitaries from the Third Reich visiting the camp, like Albert Speer.Hitler's architect had however claimed never to have been to Mauthausen. We see him in the dock…
