The Henri-IV and Louis-le-Grand high schools, in Paris, will no longer recruit their second-year students on file, but through a computerized procedure where account will be taken in particular of a "social position index" awarding bonus points .
The symbol is strong: the two bastions of republican excellence, which benefited from an exceptional capacity to select according to their level the best students from everywhere, are required by the rectorate to adopt forms of positive discrimination aimed at social mix.
The selection on file is replaced by an algorithm that is not only relatively opaque, but which, above all, makes the level a secondary criterion.
