Opinion | When trying to smear, the public loses confidence Israel today

2022-01-24T19:45:46.931Z

The figure of the number of patients in a difficult situation appears in the reports - but never as the first figure, nor always at the derivative level • It is not a lie, because the numbers are true, but it is simply not the truth

For two years now there has been a strong feeling in the air that the main problem of corona management is the public's lack of trust in the system.

And the truth is that it's not just a feeling, it's also the truth: no matter what the government does, any government - there will always be a slight gut feeling of suspicion at the end.

Oops!

The frustrated citizen will say.

Someone here is working on me.

It is true that this is usually related to the political position.

There was no chance in the first waves, conducted and supervised by the previous government, of any trust on the part of its opponents - just as there is no chance that people who see the current government as harm and disaster will trust its decisions and actions on the Corona issue.

But in fact, this mistrust has something to rely on, even beyond the position.

The public is frustrated because they feel they are being worked on. The previous government had a fairly accurate, super-responsible plan that turned out, in my view, to be ingenious and redemptive; And it did happen. Since it did happen, we all hang out here today - albeit a little frustrated and nervous, isolated and tested - but alive and well. The problem was that never, no one said it in an orderly fashion. The public has always heard instructions and instructions such as "Let's give up visiting grandparents to protect their lives" or "most importantly social distance." Today, however, the problem of trust is becoming even more critical.

Everyone knows what the situation is and what the road map is, but no one says it. For example: the figure most heard about the corona is clearly irrelevant. This is of course the number of people infected. Who cares how many infections there are when it comes to an ingrown toenail or palpation in the tail bone; The only relevant figure is, of course, whether from this number is derived a figure which should be of concern or which may be dangerous. For example: what is the rate of serious illness or what is the rate of deaths. So why? Because mass infection is not dangerous as long as it does not produce pressure in hospitals and can disrupt their functioning at a life-threatening level. This figure, of the number of patients in critical condition, appears in the reports - but it is never the first figure, nor does it always appear at the derivative level. I mean: someone here is telling a lie. This is not a lie, because the numbers are completely true and they are even accurate! This is simply not true.

Another example: here is another statistic that always appears only on a very late slide, although it is critical to understanding the matter: the rate of unvaccinated patients is difficult.

This figure is not critical on a practical level because the health care system treats everyone who needs it, vaccinated or unvaccinated, of course, but if we know that an absolute and total majority of severely ill patients are unvaccinated or unvaccinated with a third vaccine - it could give us a scientifically based sense that we Know how to beat the plague.

This figure is also played, as mentioned, only in rooms.

But the public, which is known to be much smarter than one might think, knows all this.

And what he still knows is that he is not told all this.

So he suspects and does not believe, and he is frustrated and nervous.

It really has nothing to do with politics.

It has to do with common sense.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
