In the general din on the left, a little music emerges from the side of the Communist Party. Despite a saturated space, full of candidates, Fabien Roussel manages to make his voice heard. A first victory for the PCF as the party has been marginalized in the past, or even non-existent as in 2012 and 2017 when the party decided to rally Jean-Luc Mélenchon. At the beginning of the year, the candidate was able to benefit from a nice spotlight by proclaiming on France 3 his love for French gastronomy - "
good wine, good meat, good cheese
" - before being faced strong criticism from the radical left, who considered his remarks to be exclusionary.
“The controversy I have been the subject of shows above all thata part of the left never goes beyond the ring road"
, he replied, delighted to point out that he was, unlike the others, rooted in reality.
"I put my feet in the dish, without doing it on purpose!"
, he laughs today.
