Iranian Foreign Minister signals that his country is ready to meet face to face with the American envoy • "If during the negotiations we reach a point where a good agreement requires dialogue with the US - we will not ignore it"

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Amir Abdulkhian, signaled tonight (Monday) that his country is ready to meet face-to-face with the US envoy if necessary amid alleged progress in contacts.

"If we get to the point in the negotiation process where a good agreement requires dialogue with the US, we will not ignore it," Abdulhian clarified in a first-of-its-kind statement in the current round.

Iran was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagari Kanye who met with Henrique More, who is in charge of EU foreign policy and the acting director of contacts in Vienna.

Meanwhile, the US envoy for talks, Robert Mali, conditioned a return to the nuclear deal on the release of prisoners from his country held in Iranian regime prisons.

"It is very difficult for us to imagine a return to the nuclear deal while four innocent Americans are being held hostage by Iran," he said during an interview with Reuters.

"So even when we are in talks with Iran indirectly on the nuclear issue, we are having - again indirectly - discussions with them to ensure the release of our hostages," he added.

In Tehran, things were postponed as expected, and during a weekly briefing by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibza, it was said that "Iran has never agreed to preconditions," and a report in the state news agency even claimed that this would slow down talks and even frustrate them.

"Such irrelevant preconditions on the part of Washington will make the attainment of an agreement in Vienna difficult," it read.

This is the eighth round of talks in the Austrian capital which has been suspended several times in recent months, and so far no significant progress has been made and there is no sign of a breakthrough between the parties.

Moreover, Western representatives, led by the United States, have argued on several occasions that contacts could not continue, and that if there is no progress soon they will have to explore alternative ways.

Bagari Kany manages the contacts on the part of the Islamic Republic, and on the other hand there are the P5 + 1 member states in the form of China, Russia, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States, indirectly.
