Russian President Vladimir Putin and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel affirmed their countries' keenness to strengthen relations of friendship, partnership and cooperation.
"The two presidents discussed, in a phone call today, prospects for cooperation between the two countries and further coordination of positions on the international scene, in accordance with the principles of strategic partnership and the traditions of friendship and mutual understanding between Russia and Cuba," the Russian presidency said in a statement.
The statement added that the two sides "also exchanged in detail their views on issues of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, reiterated their intention to work closely together to enhance bilateral relations, and agreed to intensify contacts at various levels."
