The branch of the Syrian Trading Corporation in As-Suwayda rented 5 tons of citrus and 3 tons of vegetables from Tartous Governorate, and began offering them in the city hall.
The director of the Foundation’s branch, Rabie Ghanem, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the quantities of citrus that were imported are of the Abu Surra type, while vegetables include tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, peppers and others, pointing out that the branch will continue its procurement operations in the coming days with the aim of promoting positive intervention in the market.
For his part, the director of the City Hall for Fruits and Vegetables, Mamoun al-Aqel, indicated that the sale of citrus is carried out at prices per kilo, for the first type of Abu Surra is 800 pounds, and for the second type is 650 pounds, indicating that the prices of rented vegetables are lower than the market at different rates.
Earlier this season, the branch of the Syrian Trade Corporation in As-Suwayda had rented about 90 tons of citrus fruits from the governorates of Lattakia and Tartous, according to those concerned.
