Oberrieden/Kammlach – Annoying for some internet shoppers who were expecting a package from Hermes last week: As the police reported, 37 packages from a large online retailer were discovered on a dirt road near Oberrieden (Unterallgäu district) – torn open and ransacked.
The driver of the delivery vehicle is now under investigation.
A community worker from Oberrieden discovered the packages on a dirt road on Wednesday afternoon. But that was not all: in the late afternoon, officers from the Mindelheim police station found other torn open packages and a reading device from the package deliverer on a dirt road in the extension of Rosenstrasse near Oberkammlach. How did the orders get there? "According to the current state of investigation, the driver is suspected of having embezzled the packages and disposed of the remains there," explains Holger Stabik from the police headquarters in Swabia South/West when asked. The extent of the damage is still unclear.
If someone has made suspicious observations in connection with a Hermes parcel service vehicle in the area between Oberrieden and Unterrieden, Feldweg east of the state road or in the Kammlach area, please inform the Mindelheim police station.
When asked about this, Hermes explained: “We immediately got in touch with our colleagues on site.
They are already in contact with the responsible authorities and will fully support them in their investigations.
Of course, it is very important to us to clarify the case comprehensively.”
According to Hermes, the affected customers will not be harmed.
Anyone who has not received their package should first contact the online retailer.
The company reports that senders or recipients of private parcel shipments can contact Hermes customer service directly and submit a loss.
The packages disposed of in the Lower Allgäu were destined for the Munich area.
