In turmoil since the British press revealed that he had participated in parties when the restrictions in force in the country prohibited it, Boris Johnson would also have celebrated his birthday with his relatives in full confinement, according to the chain ITV.

According to ITV, the British Prime Minister participated in this party organized in his apartment in Downing Street by his wife Carrie on June 19, 2020 in the afternoon, during the first confinement, when such gatherings were prohibited.

Up to 30 people are said to have taken part, including interior designer Lulu Lytle, responsible for carrying out the expensive renovation of her apartment, with controversial funding.

While the British media claims that the event lasted 20 to 30 minutes, a spokeswoman for Downing Street immediately flew to the aid of the tenant of 10 Downing Street, assuring that Boris Johnson would have participated "less than ten minutes" in this gathering of its employees.

But ITV news does not stop there and indicates that friends of the Johnson family would have participated in another event organized on the evening of June 19 on the floor of the residence of the Prime Minister, which his services denied.

“It is totally false.

In accordance with the rules at the time, the Prime Minister welcomed a small number of his family members outside that evening, ”assured Downing Street.

"Other Harmful Stories"

Implicated for a series of parties in Downing Street in full confinement, Boris Johnson, 57, is undergoing his worst crisis since his triumphant accession to power in the summer of 2019.

Anger over the parties, which came as people were asked to drastically reduce their interactions, caused his popularity to plummet in opinion polls.

Former influential adviser to Boris Johnson, Dominic Cummings, who declined to be interviewed as part of an internal investigation led by senior civil servant Sue Gray, has affirmed his intention to give evidence in writing.

Cummings, who has regularly launched attacks on his former leader since his departure at the end of 2020 amid infighting, warned that "other damaging stories" would emerge if the Prime Minister does not step down.

The head of government has so far escaped a vote of no confidence from his conservative camp and refers to the conclusions of this investigation, which should be published soon.
