Brandenburg has the highest seven-day incidence of new corona infections of all non-city states in Germany.

For Prime Minister Woidke, there are currently no relaxations in the protective measures - but possibly in a few weeks.

Potsdam - Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) believes that the prospect of relaxing the corona rules is conceivable in February at the earliest. "We are (...) certain, the experts also say, that the peak can be reached in February and that we - we will meet next time on February 16th - will then probably not only talk about openings, but hopefully can also decide on openings, ”said Woidke on Monday after consultations between the state heads of government and Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). For this, however, the situation in the hospitals must be taken into account. Brandenburg now has the highest corona incidence among the non-city states.

Woidke currently sees no need for changed rules.

"We have a containment regulation that has proven its worth," he said.

The federal and state governments have agreed to initially refrain from taking stricter measures.

Stricter corona rules have been in force in Brandenburg since January 17th.

This includes the 2G plus rule for visiting restaurants, which will be suspended when the situation in hospitals eases.

The head of government called for booster vaccinations.

Corona incidence is increasing again in Brandenburg

In the past seven days, 1102.3 people per 100,000 people in Brandenburg contracted the virus, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Monday.

The value was higher only in the city states of Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen.

Nationwide, the state capital Potsdam has the highest value for corona incidence with 1625.9, followed by the Uckermark with 1601.7.

Nationwide, Potsdam is in sixth place and comes directly behind five Berlin districts, followed by the Uckermark.

In seven districts in Brandenburg as well as in Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam, the incidence now exceeds the 1000 mark.

In ten districts and four cities it is over 750 - this is associated with an exit restriction for the unvaccinated.

The district of Uckermark announced that this rule will apply from Tuesday.

The Association of Towns and Municipalities called on citizens like Woidke to vaccinate.

"The situation is worrying," said managing director Jens Graf on Monday after the executive committee meeting.

In view of the risk of severe courses for those who have not been vaccinated and possible supply bottlenecks in the hospitals, citizens should definitely use the municipal offers in the vaccination centers and mobile vaccination teams.

This also applies to children and young people so that schools and day-care centers can remain open despite the Omicron wave.

Almost 1.7 million Brandenburgers have basic immunization against Corona, which corresponds to 66.8 percent of the population.

According to the RKI, the nationwide average is 73.4 percent.

The situation in the hospitals is almost stable: the warning light remains yellow for the proportion of intensive care beds with Covid-19 patients at 12.2 percent and for new hospital patients with Covid-19 within a week per 100,000 inhabitants at 3.4 , according to the Ministry of Health.

This means that the 2G plus rule for restaurants continues to apply.

It will be suspended when the situation in the hospitals eases.
