The Aleppo Agriculture Directorate put into service a biological control laboratory for the production of vital enemies of trigramma and heron, and for the natural control of pests that infect agricultural crops, the most important of which is cotton.
Engineer Radwan Harsoni, Director of Agriculture in Aleppo, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the informant he put into service constitutes the nucleus of the biological control laboratory, which is being equipped in the Qadi Askar area after the completion of the infrastructure in it, with the aim of producing vital enemies to combat the pests of the prickly pear, carnation and American almond worms, and thus dispensing with the control by Chemical pesticides and production of cotton varieties with international standards.
SANA’s camera visited the laboratory of vital enemies, where the engineer, Ahmed Haj Kaddour, head of the biological control department in the Aleppo Agriculture Directorate, stated that the laboratory’s mission is to train technical elements and engineers on the production of vital enemies in the parasite population, quality and evaluation to combat almond and cotton worms spread in some agricultural fields.
He added that there are teams of technicians carrying out a campaign to prepare pheromone traps in the fields to determine the rate of insect pest infestation, and if it exceeds ten percent, rapid intervention is carried out with integrated biological control, explaining that the laboratory includes breeding cages for the alternative host for silk worms and the production of two types of oviparous parasites (Trichograma) and larvae (Baragon). ) laboratory, with the aim of replacing the production and breeding of almond worms.
