Al-Zamil: Syria provides all facilities to complete the electrical interconnection agreement between Lebanon and Jordan

The Minister of Electricity, Engineer Ghassan Al-Zamil, confirmed that Syria provides all facilities to complete the electrical interconnection agreement between Lebanon and Jordan through the Syrian network to supply Lebanon with part of its electrical energy needs from Jordan in accordance with the agreement of the three countries on the sixth of last October.

Al-Zamil said in a press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Walid Fayyad in Beirut today: “During my meeting with him, I conveyed to Lebanese President Michel Aoun the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad, and we explained President al-Assad’s directives to provide all assistance and facilities until this project is implemented, adding that we have done our best since the first meeting that The connection line will be ready at the end of 2021.

Al-Zamil added: On the 29th of last month, we informed the Jordanian and Lebanese sides of the readiness of the line, and the instructions of the Syrian government were clear to provide all facilities until the completion of this agreement, and we are ready to sign and attend the signing by the Lebanese and Jordanian parties, pointing to the importance of his visit to Lebanon in the context of activating cooperation Arabic Arabic in general.

For his part, Lebanese Energy Minister Walid Fayyad said that tomorrow we will sign an energy transit agreement from Jordan to Lebanon via Syria, stressing the importance of this agreement in rebuilding historical partnerships between the Arab brothers and securing additional electricity to Lebanon.
