The Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, affirmed that Iran is pursuing a policy based on expanding relations with neighboring countries and rejecting occupation in all its forms.
IRNA quoted Bagheri as saying, during his meeting with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Zakir Hasanov, that "we look forward that the visit will provide appropriate opportunities to raise and strengthen bilateral ties, especially in the defense, technical and military fields between Tehran and Baku," noting that "the Iranian people cherish the relations." Bagheri explained that his country, just as it attaches great importance to its territorial integrity, is also concerned with the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
