The metal band Feuerschwanz takes off with their album "Memento Mori".
They landed at number one in the German album charts.
Erlangen – “Memento Mori” is the name of the new album with which the band Feuerschwanz recently stormed the German album charts.
According to n
ordbayern.de
, opinions sometimes differed as to whether this is a serious band.
The two appearances in the ZDF television garden did not harm her career.
For most metal bands, such a performance would have caused ridicule on social media - but the Feuerschwanz fans take it easy.
After all, they are already used to a lot, so the band started with medieval comedy folk - today they play folk metal.
Erlangen: "Feuerschwanz" takes off - the unusual band name
"Firetail has his own way.
Because our name is Feuerschwanz," says Peter Henrici, the only remaining founding member of the band, as
reported by
nordbayern.de
.
"It's definitely not easier to get into the TV garden with the name Feuerschwanz."
Each band member even has their own nickname - Henrici was Hauptmann Feuerschwanz;
today only Hauptmann is on the homepage.
Other members had names like Knappe Latte or Sir Lanzeflott, as the founding member explains.
Today he plays with Hodi, Johanna, Hans, Rollo and Jarne.
New sound for the band
"Since 2018 we have turned to folk metal and with the new album we present the metal craft even more," adds Henrici.
Her tenth studio album "Memento Mori", which was released on December 30, 2021, finally entered the album charts at number one.
Even if they dropped to eleventh place after two weeks, Henrici sees the chart success and the appearance in the TV garden as positive.
After all, metal bands would rarely be on stage there.
What particularly fascinates him about the medieval sector?
"That there is a lively and real audience that likes to hear this music," Henrici continues.

The band has arrived
The band's songs and performances are bursting with humor.
The lyrics deal with fantasy themes like dragons and battles.
For Henrici, the band is therefore "a kind of way of life".
In this way, the group wants to gain access to its own roots.
Feuerschwanz is constantly changing, so the band doesn't want to manage their albums and certainly doesn't want to play earlier songs, reports
nordbayern.de
.
If an old song makes it into a set list, it's only with a wink, Henrici admits.
This has always been the case.
With the entry into the Austrian label Napalm Records in 2018, the band reinvented themselves.
For Henrici, Feuerschwanz was only two years old and had finally arrived.
