How many times will Sweden's Ylva Johansson have to remind Member States that pushbacks of migrants are against international and European law?
She repeated it again at the end of last week in Vilnius, before taking part in a meeting of EU interior ministers, organized by Lithuania on the subject of the protection of the Union's external borders.
“The pushbacks are clearly illegal.
People have the right to seek asylum,”
stressed the Commissioner for Home Affairs, who shouts at regular intervals on the subject with almost general indifference.

These practices, also called “pushback”, were very numerous last year, when Belarus decided to exploit migrants by pushing them towards Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.
In 2021, 40,000 illegal entry attempts would have been rejected by these three countries.
