At the invitation of the regent, President Yitzhak Herzog and his wife will fly to Abu Dhabi next Sunday.

Herzog will meet with the de facto ruler of the United Arab Emirates, Regent Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed.

Herzog will also hold official meetings with the United Arab Emirates' Foreign Minister and International Cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah Ben-Zayed, with the Vice President, Prime Minister and Defense of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashd al-Matum, and with representatives of the Jewish community.

"We are privileged to make history by holding the first visit of the President of the State of Israel to the United Arab Emirates," President Herzog said ahead of the meeting.

"This important visit takes place at a time when the people of Israel and the people of the Emirates are working hard to lay the foundations for a common new future. I believe that this new and courageous partnership will bring about positive change in the Middle East and inspire the entire region."

"We are peace-seekers, and together we will expand the historical peace circle of the Abrahamic Agreements and its implications, we will create a better, more tolerant and more secure world for future generations. Herzog concluded.

President Yitzhak Herzog has spoken several times with Regent Ben Zayed, and the two figures are in close contact.

Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed even recently held a condolence talk with the president after the death of his late mother Ora Herzog.
