The State Attorney's Office today (Tuesday) filed a defamation lawsuit in the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court under the Prohibition of Defamation Law, on behalf of the head of public health services, Dr. Sharon Elrai-Price, against Yosefa Barak-Tamir, for NIS 250,000.
The lawsuit letter states that Barak-Tamir circulated false and offensive posts on social media condemning Dr. Elrai-Price, using her family members including her minor son.
The lawsuit letter states that the publications are part of a systematic campaign to defame Dr. Elrai-Price, with the aim of improperly influencing its functioning and leading to a real personal persecution. In a period of two and a half weeks, the defendant published more than 60 false and offensive publications Elrei Price and her family.

The State Attorney's Office said in a statement that "these false publications constitute a deliberate violation of the plaintiff's good name and professionalism as head of public health services, and are an attempt to harm her occupation and professionalism in order to undermine public confidence in the firm's professional guidelines during an epidemic.
"It is important to emphasize that there is no dispute that criticism of civil servants is legitimate and even essential for the proper functioning of government authorities, even during a global epidemic, including criticism of vaccine activity, even if it is not always restrained and polite. "The public and its family members are crossing a border that cannot be crossed on the agenda."
