The workshops of the Directorate of Water Resources in Deir Ezzor are working to isolate the water channels in the agricultural projects belonging to the agricultural associations, which were cut off from water as a result of the low level of the Euphrates River.
The Director of Water Resources in Deir ez-Zor, Engineer Muhammad Al-Rajab, told SANA reporter that in response to the demands of farmers whose lands were damaged due to the suspension of irrigation engines and the distance of water from them as a result of the low level of the Euphrates River, the directorate’s workshops started after being provided with three special engineering mechanisms that were brought in by the ministry to isolate the water supply channels in the projects The suspended agricultural work in order to deliver water to agricultural lands and to secure irrigation water for them.
Al-Rajab explained that during the past three days, irrigation canals were removed in each of the associations of Al-Baloum, Al-Toub and Al-Bouleel in the eastern countryside of the governorate, pointing out that work is continuing until the completion of returning water to all other agricultural projects.
A number of farmers praised this step, which contributes to returning irrigation water to their lands and irrigating their crops.
