Heating costs are rising everywhere - and the energy transition is set to continue: various projects have been examined in Eurasburg.

Climate protection should start on the doorstep.

Eurasburg – Mayor Moritz Sappl recently predicted in an annual interview with our newspaper that Eurasburg will be dealing with the issue of local heating intensively over the next few years.

Now "the first serve has been made", as the head of the town hall put it in the most recent municipal council meeting.

Andreas Scharli and Christiane Regauer from the Oberland energy transition (Competence Center Energy EKO eV) presented the committee with the results of a survey that they had started in May last year on behalf of the community.

On-site energy transition: Is “village heating” in Eurasburg the solution?

The project has the working title "Village Heating Beuerberg" and is part of the "Energy Utilization Plan" for the municipality of Eurasburg.

The aim of the survey was to find out if the general public was interested in a joint renewable heat supply and to filter out possible locations.

A total of 107 homeowners came out as interested heat customers, reported energy manager Scharli.

The feedback shows that the survey participants currently need around 400,000 liters of heating oil per year.

Measured against the heat supply to be expected in the respective streets, according to the data available so far, two independent areas have emerged, which make development appear particularly attractive.

On the one hand, there is the area around the school building, Raiffeisenbank and monastery with 45 buildings whose owners have specified a heating oil requirement of around 300,000 liters.

As the second larger area, the energy managers marked an oval around Alpenblickstraße and Blombergstraße (heating oil requirement around 40,000 liters) in the street plan of the community.

Eurasburg is driving the energy transition forward: There is still a need for discussion on renewable energy sources

If you want to integrate all the buildings from the survey response, you need a "heating line" of around five kilometers in length, Scharli explained to the municipal councils.

He pointed out that this would inevitably lead to energy losses: "There are areas where a lot of energy hops and others where little." The currently most lucrative area with 45 buildings requires a 1.8 kilometer long network.

Also read: Eurasburg wants to tackle these points for climate protection.

But that is not the only thing that needs to be clarified in the next few months or what the next steps are to be.

"There are two sticking points," emphasized Andreas Scharli during the presentation to the municipal council.

“First: the operating company.

Secondly: the location.” Six possible locations for the construction of the “energy centers” were briefly mentioned. They are, among other things, in the area of the so-called Munich water pipe, at the fire station or near the junction with the cycle path.

If possible, the location should not impair the image of the village, emission protection requirements must be complied with and internet, electricity and water connections must be available.

Not to be forgotten: "The access to the site must be suitable for trucks," emphasized Scharli.

"Because I can't take the wheelbarrow there."

Regional and regenerative: energy transition in Eurasburg

As a renewable source of energy in Eurasburg, regionally produced wood chips would initially offer themselves.

In order to limit consumption ("At some point we will reach the limit of our potential"), biogas from the WGV Quartzbichl could possibly be mixed in during the summer months.

"As long as trucks loaded with wood chips continue to drive across the border to Austria every day," he says, he's not worried.

Scharli: "But if we instigate something like this, it must of course be ensured that it can run for 30 years."

The presentation gave an idea: many, many discussions await the municipal council in the near future.

Since Friday, the project with the most important data has been on the municipality's website (www.eurasburg.de), so that all citizens now have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with it.
